aah! I know the feeling. I use Word 2007 to post to my blog. It has a feature that lets you save and post directly from Word. That way you have a backup and generally don't need to go near the actual blog. If you don't have Word 2007 there's also a program called LiveWriter which is a cut down version and does the same thing.
